We are thrilled to announce our Beginners Leatherworking Course at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre. Starting on Tuesday, 14th May 2024, this course is an inviting blend of traditional craftsmanship and the serene beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
Course Details
The course is scheduled over four evenings, making it ideal for anyone interested in learning a new skill in a relaxed, picturesque setting. The sessions are planned as follows:
- Tuesday, 14th May 2024 6-8pm
- Tuesday, 28th May 2024 6-8pm
- Tuesday, 4th June 2024 6-8pm
- Tuesday, 18th June 2024 6-8pm
Each session starts at 18:00, perfect for unwinding after a day's work with some creative crafting.
Learning Outcomes
Guided by our Highland Heritage Ranger, participants will learn all the basics of leatherworking, including:
- Cutting Leather: Master the precision needed to cut leather accurately.
- Stitching Techniques: Gain skills in hand-stitching to assemble and finish your leather projects.
- Shaping Leather: Learn to shape and mould leather into custom designs.
By the end of the course, you'll have the skills to create beautiful, handcrafted leather items and a deep appreciation for this artisan craft.
