The Bone Caves are tremendous but I find the Traligill Caves, particularly the Cave of Roaring and the Waterslide more awesome because of the water rushing through them. I could easily believe that trolls live there!
The recent rainfall has seen some incredible, usually dry resurgences flow. There is a force there. The underground waterfall in far end of the Allt nan Uamh Stream Cave is called Thunderghast! For a roaring good reason.
Thanks for sharing, I love reading about the fauna that were roaming Britain in the Pleistocene. You should check out the Missing Lynx, by Ross Barnett.
Thanks Andy and Imogen - we've visited the caves several times, and always loved the growing silence as you get deeper into the valley. Speculating about their function is fun - ceremonial, residential, seasonal....? And that is one impressive polar bear skull!
